Our Mission

Sisters Housing Enterprises Incorporated (SHE Inc.) provides medium term supported accommodation in Wagga Wagga, for single women and women with children, escaping domestic violence, abuse or disadvantage.

Our Vision

Our service is provided by women, for women, in a safe environment offering non-discriminatory, client focused support, enabling women through self determination and empowerment.  Our service addresses domestic violence through community development and education.

The need for supported accommodation was identified by the Women’s Refuge movement which led to a government working party on homeless women being established in 1983.  Research and a needs analysis conducted by this working party identified the need for medium term housing programs for homeless women and women in crisis accommodation. This program was seen as providing a link between crisis accommodation and long term housing. November 1985 saw the implementation of Sisters Housing Enterprises Inc. in Wagga Wagga with funding from the Women’s Housing Unit of the Department of Housing. This service is currently funded through the Supported Accommodation Assistance Program (SAAP) administered by Community Services, incorporating both Commonwealth and State funds. Sisters Housing Enterprises Inc. is an autonomous organisation under the guidance of a community based Board of Directors. Sisters Housing Enterprises Inc. is independent and not affiliated with any religious organisations.
